Groundbreaking ceremony for green health LAB (ghL)

Bochum - On December 19, 2022, the groundbreaking ceremony took place for the new building [office building with hall] of medmehr GmbH in Gerthe-South. The company, which was founded in Dortmund, has found its headquarters and therefore its home in Bochum, hence remains loyal to the Ruhr area.

The company, which started in 2016 with two technicians, now supports almost 400 houses / customers (mostly health facilities) with a team of around 25 employees in the operation of laboratory, hygiene and medical technology over the entire life cycle. It includes procurement to disposal, with the core task being maintenance / repair of devices.

This successful development is possible due to the professional and reliable work, but also to the creativity and research &development spirit of all technical experts, plus the desire to develop optimized, digital, and sustainable improvement for the market.

One of the research projects gave rise to the idea of ​​being able to move things forward faster and independently. The idea for a Real Laboratory, the "green health LAB" (ghL), was born.

The entire property (including green areas) with its different functional, work, and test spaces is intended for experiments, studies, testing, know-how, and information transfer on the topic of "sustainable and holistic construction and operation of health facilities" and "healthy living spaces of the future". The following areas are already planned:

  • Green areas (outdoor area): Therapy garden (activation garden, dementia garden,…)
  • Ground floor: Room for knowledge and transfer (showroom, training room, event room)
  • 1st floor: Our office will be converted into a space for "healthy working of the future" (open office space, Think Thank, creative, meeting, but also retreat rooms…)
  • 2nd floor: Experimental room (residents' room of the future, the ideal dirty-work area, therapy terrace, etc.)
  • Workshop: Electrical, mechanical workshop, hygiene laboratory, medical technology equipment training center, etc.

By now, the Real Laboratory has been able to attract numerous manufacturers and is happy to welcome further interested parties to work together to make our living environment healthier, more sustainable, and more livable!
